About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Risk Control Advisor to join our team at BFL Canada in Toronto. As a key member of our risk management team, you will be responsible for guiding all activities related to fire protection, risk engineering, and risk control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct site surveys at client facilities to identify potential risks and hazards.
  • Produce comprehensive risk reports, including underwriting reports, risk assessments, and recommendation reports.
  • Develop and implement risk control programs for large clients to mitigate potential losses.
  • Collaborate with brokers to provide information on risk exposures and insurer subjectivities.
  • Advise clients on risk exposures and control measures to minimize potential losses.
  • Analyze and prioritize insurer recommendations to ensure optimal risk management.
  • Support research and development practice on technical issues and considerations.
  • Assist in the enhancement of buildings to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Review and assist clients in the design of building mechanics and fire protection projects.
  • Revised hydraulic plans and calculations based on applicable standards.
  • Carry out expertise in the field of fire protection and produce reports.
Requirements
  • Experience in risk control with a broker, insurer, or in-house for a large organization.
  • Experience in site inspection, risk control, and/or fire protection.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering; Diploma in fire protection or applied sciences or other relevant training.
  • Good understanding of occupational health and safety.
  • Knowledge of NFPA and FM standards.
  • Knowledge of building construction and related codes, as well as building mechanics.
  • Knowledge of one or more hydraulic calculation software (HydraCalc or equivalent).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of the MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
