The Investment Advisor in Development will collaborate closely with a seasoned investment professional for a portion of their time, gaining invaluable mentorship and insights from the Sponsoring Investment Advisor.

This role involves evaluating individual client investment requirements to deliver tailored, expert investment advice, sales, and service. The advisor will foster client trust by educating them on investment methodologies, associated risks, and performance expectations that align with their financial aspirations. Building and maintaining long-term client relationships while ensuring an outstanding client experience is essential. The advisor will also identify and refer clients to other business units as necessary. Working in conjunction with market stakeholders, BMO partners, and the community is vital to cultivate relationships and enhance the overall customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with colleagues to establish business relationships with current clients.
  • Engage with internal and external partners to achieve business goals.
  • Proactively develop business with clients and prospects through effective selling and marketing strategies (e.g., networking, seminars, community engagement).
  • Utilize professional judgment to formulate and recommend investment strategies that help clients meet their financial objectives.
  • Articulate and implement investment concepts, portfolio management, and other wealth management strategies.
  • Support branch or team objectives by identifying opportunities to enhance profitability, increase client loyalty, and optimize share of wallet.
  • Monitor sales and service performance against plans to identify gaps, issues, and best practices.
  • Assist in the development and execution of business strategies and planning activities.
  • Conduct client sales and service tasks in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Address complex or unresolved client situations as necessary.
  • Manage databases and provide analytical support for forecasting and data visualization, ensuring compliance with data governance standards.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of operational initiatives.
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and organizational information.
  • Adhere to internal risk management policies and industry regulations.
  • Focus may be directed towards a specific business or group.
  • Innovate and propose new solutions.
  • Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues within established guidelines.
  • Work independently with broader responsibilities assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience and/or certification in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian Securities Course & Conduct and Practices Handbook.
  • Registered Representative (RR) designation required.
  • Compliance with mandatory Continuing Education Program requirements.
  • Professional Financial Planning (PFP) certification must be completed within the specified timeframe of RR licensure.
  • Specialized knowledge gained through education and/or professional experience.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities.
  • In-depth analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective influencing skills.
Compensation:

Pay Structure: Commission-based

The compensation range and structure will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, including a commission component. For part-time positions, salaries will be adjusted based on hours worked. The listed salary reflects BMO Financial Group's anticipated target for the first year in this role.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and additional benefits.
