Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Systems Administrator to join our team at Elvin's IT Consulting. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our computer networks and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Network Administration: Coordinate access and use of computer networks, ensuring secure and efficient connectivity for all users.
  • System Installation: Install software, web server hardware and software, and other necessary systems to support our network infrastructure.
  • Network Maintenance: Troubleshoot, maintain, and administer local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), mainframe networks, and computer workstations and peripheral equipment.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to optimize efficiency.
  • Security Measures: Implement data, software, and hardware security procedures to protect our network and systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
  • Backup and Recovery: Perform routine network start-up and close-down, maintain control records, and perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
  • Network Optimization: Implement network traffic and security monitoring software, and optimize server performance to ensure maximum efficiency and uptime.
  • Web Development: Modify Web pages, applets, and scripts, and research and apply meta-data to Websites and register Websites with search engines.
Requirements
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Linux, Unix, JavaOS, networking security, extranet, intranet, internet, servers, word processing software, and website creation and management software.
  • Work Environment: 35 hours per week, with a permanent work term and English as the primary work language.
