Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Laporte is a leading engineering firm specializing in process, building, and utility design. We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Western Canada.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in building and industrial HVAC, plumbing, and drainage, refrigeration, steam, hot water, and fire protection system design. The successful candidate will have a strong background in process engineering, with experience in light industrial, food and beverage, or pharmaceutical facilities. The ideal candidate will be able to travel to client sites in Canada and the USA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop designs, mechanical drawings, and specifications for projects;
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary design team;
  • Provide mentorship to junior technical personnel;
  • Support project management requirements;
  • Conduct document and field reviews for assigned projects;
  • Support positive client interactions and business development activities;
  • Prepare and conduct presentations to clients.
Requirements:
  • Engineering registration in BC and/or AB;
  • BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Intermediate/Senior engineer with 3-10 years of experience in building and industrial HVAC, plumbing, and drainage, refrigeration, steam, hot water, and fire protection system design;
  • Experience in process engineering (light industrial, food and beverage, or pharmaceutical facilities) an asset;
  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes and regulations;
  • Ability to travel to client sites in Canada and the USA;
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and food safety an asset.
