Job Summary

The Personal Support Worker provides personalized care and support to clients in their homes, promoting independence and well-being within the framework of VON Canada's policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients' needs and develop personalized care plans to ensure optimal support and care.
  • Implement care plans, providing assistance with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation, as well as light housekeeping and laundry.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care and support.
  • Monitor and report any changes in clients' conditions or needs to supervisors and healthcare teams.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide comprehensive care and support, including respite care and family support.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, adhering to VON Canada's policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • CCA Certification in Nova Scotia.
  • Must have a certificate in Home Support Worker (Level I, II, III), Personal Support Worker program, or Health Care Aide.
  • Current Standard First Aid Certificate or CPR level C Certificate, if applicable.
  • Experience working with elderly or ill individuals or children, with household management skills.
Working Conditions

This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics. Individuals in this role are required to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.
