Your Opportunity:

The Patient Care Assistant plays a vital role within the healthcare team, delivering compassionate support to adults and children in a family-centered environment. This position is essential in a dynamic tertiary care setting.

Role Overview:

As a Patient Care Assistant (PCA), your primary responsibility will be to offer personal care, assist with daily living activities, and provide emotional and physical support to patients who need temporary or ongoing assistance. You will collaborate closely with patients, their families, and caregivers across various care settings, including home, community, and healthcare facilities. Your contributions will be crucial in ensuring safe, high-quality patient and family-centered care while embodying the core values and vision of Alberta Health Services.

Essential Qualifications:

Active registration on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory is required. Candidates must present a confirmation letter as proof of enrollment from the Directory. Nursing students currently enrolled in an accredited Alberta nursing program who have completed at least 100 hours of practicum, and are either in their first year of practical nursing or second year of a baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program, will also be considered. Proof of qualifications must be provided.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS - Heart and Stroke AED Level C) certification is mandatory. A minimum of one year of experience as a PCA is preferred. Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is essential. Candidates must be capable of meeting the physical demands of the role, including pushing stretchers, carts, and wheelchairs, as well as bending and reaching. Completion of Medical Terminology training is required. The ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment is crucial. We seek a self-motivated individual who can effectively prioritize and manage their workload in a fast-paced patient care setting.
