Job Summary

We are looking for a seasoned Chef(fe) de service to lead our regulatory compliance efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our operations are in compliance with all relevant maritime regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze new regulations and determine their impact on our operations.
  • Supervise and harmonize minimum manning requirements for our operations and projects.
  • Develop and implement training and evaluation programs in accordance with ISM standards, Transport Canada requirements, and other relevant procedures.
  • Establish and participate in working committees related to regulatory compliance and other division projects.
  • Manage and submit documents to Transport Canada for decision-making and exemptions.
  • Prepare and communicate incident or accident investigation reports to relevant authorities.
  • Plan and conduct internal and external audits of our Safety Management System for our fleet.
  • Manage personnel under their supervision.
  • Represent Océan at regulatory tables and foster partnerships with regulatory bodies, such as TC, CCMR, CMAC, CFUM, etc.
  • Support and participate in activities related to our Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System.

Requirements

  • Relevant maritime certification for the position.
  • Major in Maritime Transport and/or higher education (significant asset).
  • Minimum seven to ten years of professional experience in the maritime industry.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong knowledge of the following regulations: LMMC 2001, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISPS, OCIMF, and Classification Societies.
  • Strong sense of priorities, excellent analytical skills, and autonomy.
  • Bilingualism in French and English, both written and spoken.
