Job Title: Rehabilitative Care Worker

Join our team at Health Association Nova Scotia as a Rehabilitative Care Worker, where you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and long-term mental health challenges.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to provide a variety of supports for our clients. As a Rehabilitative Care Worker, you will work under the direction of the Director of Disability Support Programs to develop, implement, and evaluate individual support plans, ensuring the well-being and safety of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support clients in learning skills necessary for activities of daily living, such as personal care, meal preparation, and household management.
  • Develop and implement individual support plans, in consultation with clients and other stakeholders.
  • Assist clients with transportation to activities and events, and provide support with meal planning and preparation.
  • Provide emotional support and advocacy to clients, promoting their independence and autonomy.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma and completion of the Disability Supports Program or equivalent.
  • Current Crisis Prevention Intervention certificate and certification in Standard First Aid and CPR.
  • Food Handlers and WHMIS certification.
  • Knowledge of Supportive Decision Making and the UN Convention on Human Rights.
  • Recent related job experience and good oral and written communication skills.
Working Environment:

As a Rehabilitative Care Worker, you will work in a small option home setting, with some travel required for outside activities and events. You will be exposed to various hazards, including physical and verbal abuse, and must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
