Role Overview

As a Corporate Legal Consultant, reporting directly to the Vice President of Legal Affairs, you will serve as a key advisor on all legal and regulatory compliance matters affecting the organization. Your responsibilities will include negotiating various agreements and ensuring adherence to the laws and regulations relevant to our nationwide operations.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Provide legal advice and support to various departments regarding contractual and business relationships, while effectively managing regulatory risks;
  • Guide different sectors of the organization on legislative, legal, privacy protection, and intellectual property issues;
  • Evaluate legal risks associated with commercial transactions and recommend strategies for risk mitigation;
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements within the organization;
  • Engage in tender processes;
  • Contribute to various transactional projects;
  • Assist in maintaining compliance frameworks related to personal and company data protection through controls and audits;
  • Actively participate in the implementation of compliance programs, preparation of necessary documentation, and maintenance of related records;
  • Support the Privacy Officer in guiding the organization towards best practices in compliance with Quebec, Canadian, and international standards;
  • Monitor legislative changes to inform and assist stakeholders potentially impacted;
  • Safeguard the organization’s technological assets;
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure alignment on organizational priorities and opportunities.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in law with expertise in emerging technology law and privacy issues;
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate counsel or business law;
  • Strong knowledge of privacy protection laws and regulations;
  • Familiarity with technology, software contracts, and open-source agreements;
  • Proficient computer skills;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation abilities;
  • Demonstrated writing proficiency;
  • Strong organizational capabilities;
  • Sound judgment and integrity;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation abilities;
  • A business-oriented mindset, autonomy, and robust technical skills;
  • Experience with the SaaS sales model (considered a major asset);
  • Fluency in both English and French (spoken, written, and read) is essential due to regular interactions with English-speaking colleagues.
