TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is representing a well-established manufacturer specializing in custom products for the commercial construction industry across Canada. The Supply Chain & Inventory Management Leader is responsible for overseeing purchasing strategies, supplier negotiations, supplier relations, strategic process enhancement, inventory oversight, cost control, and documentation management. This position plays a vital role in maintaining cost efficiency and quality enhancement within the Supply Chain division. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the ideal candidate will possess prior experience in custom manufacturing, a strong grasp of materials planning and procurement, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the organization’s procurement and inventory planning functions to optimize costs while ensuring quality, reliability of supply, and timely delivery.
- Ensure ERP system accuracy, maintenance, and configuration.
- Conduct vendor management and performance evaluations.
- Proactively analyze market trends and commodity impacts to foresee potential risks related to materials, costs, and quality.
- Establish and uphold performance improvement metrics for suppliers.
- Guarantee that all raw materials adhere to required quality standards and specifications.
- Collaborate with, mentor, and guide junior procurement staff.
- Assist in assessing and negotiating complex or strategically significant supplier relationships to secure favorable terms for the organization.
- Collaborate with production teams to determine inventory selection, quantities, and lead times while maintaining precise inventory records.
- Review costs and analyze forecasts for production planning in conjunction with management.
- Initiate continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing costs and enhancing quality.
- Develop and implement clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for suppliers.
- Ensure efficient management of all inbound logistics.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders including Production, Accounts Payable, Customer Service, Marketing, and Sales.
- Ensure the accuracy, quality, and specifications of inventory, updating all received goods in the system promptly, and ensuring the Bill of Materials reflects correct usage.
- Conduct inventory counts and verify the accuracy of ERP system data.
- A Bachelor's degree in business or supply chain/procurement is preferred.
- APICS certification would be advantageous.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in supply chain, purchasing, or inventory management, with a preference for candidates with manufacturing experience.
- Previous leadership experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with lean principles, including Value-Stream Mapping, is desirable.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage time flexibly and prioritize workload effectively based on departmental needs.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, along with effective organizational abilities.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring excellent follow-through.
