POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Director of Product Development plays a pivotal role in steering the success of our apparel offerings. This position is responsible for leading diverse teams, managing the sampling workflow, liaising with suppliers, and ensuring the efficient execution of manufacturing orders. In addition to product development, this role acts as the primary contact for all pre-production and development-related matters, significantly contributing to sales initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

ENHANCING CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION:

Oversee and coordinate a detailed calendar of events, both internal and external, to ensure effective management and timely execution of apparel product development Assess design presentations for feasibility and cost implications, focusing on garment aesthetics and functionality Manage all internal and external adjustments related to color and fit, ensuring compliance with industry standards and current fashion trends

ENGAGING WITH SOURCING TEAMS:

Partner with sourcing to optimize factory assignments, design implementation, and vendor management, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery for apparel production Relay initial cost estimates from sourcing to sales and provide projected lead times for apparel items, taking into account material availability and production schedules

SAMPLING AND PRE-PRODUCTION OVERSIGHT:

Direct the initiation and management of the sampling process, with a keen focus on garment fit and fabric integrity Supervise sample approvals for licensed apparel and buyer samples Ensure the prompt production of TOP (Top of Production) samples for apparel items and manage the overall process effectively Maintain accurate technical packages throughout the product lifecycle, including approvals of artwork and sizing specifications

MANAGING REVISIONS AND TIMELINES:

Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with internal and external teams regarding timelines, modifications, and on-time delivery

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Over 15 years of experience in sourcing or production management within the fashion sector In-depth knowledge of products, fabrics, fits, washes, patterns, suppliers, and manufacturing facilities both domestically and internationally Proficient in critical path management, cost analysis, manufacturing processes, and calendar oversight Strong negotiation skills with the ability to devise practical solutions in mutually beneficial contexts Highly organized professional with exceptional planning capabilities and the ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and producing accurate work in a dynamic environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills to build trustworthy and lasting relationships with suppliers and colleagues Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting Self-driven with a keen focus on deadlines and reporting Willingness to travel for supplier visits as necessary Proficient in computer applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or a related discipline Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus This position operates Monday through Friday during core business hours and is onsite.
