Position Overview
IBI Group is actively seeking a Rail and Transit Discipline Lead to enhance our Mobility Global Business Area (GBA). This role offers flexibility in terms of location within our Canadian offices.
The Rail and Transit Discipline Lead is a senior-level role that entails providing strategic leadership and specialized knowledge in rail and multi-modal transit engineering. The individual will manage a team of engineers, ensuring the effective execution of projects related to rail and transit infrastructure. This position requires a blend of project management skills, technical proficiency, and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure optimal outcomes.
In this capacity, you will be instrumental in steering the rail and transit discipline. Your responsibilities will include ensuring project success and delivering technical guidance in rail and transit engineering. Furthermore, you will focus on enhancing service delivery and client engagement while ensuring the team possesses the necessary skills to secure new projects.
Your role will involve working independently with multi-disciplinary teams, overseeing a variety of projects, including extensive transit initiatives. These projects may involve infrastructure-related tasks such as the development or refurbishment of tunnels, tracks, stations, signaling systems, utilities, bridges, and other related systems.
In addition to your technical and project management capabilities, you will lead business development and client engagement efforts, strengthening our footprint in the rail and transit sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management: Cultivate a collaborative and innovative environment for the rail and transit discipline team. Project Management: Supervise the planning, design, and implementation of rail and transit projects, ensuring quality and timely completion. Work closely with project managers to address any challenges that arise. Technical Expertise: Act as the subject matter expert in rail and transit engineering, remaining informed about industry trends, standards, and best practices. Delivery: Serve as a Design Lead or Technical Director on larger and strategic projects. Client Interaction: Develop and maintain robust relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and satisfaction is achieved. Team Development: Mentor and support team members, promoting professional growth within the rail and transit discipline while identifying and recruiting top talent. Collaboration: Work alongside other discipline leaders and departments to ensure the seamless integration of rail and transit elements within broader projects. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards within the rail and transit industry.Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Systems Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related discipline. Extensive experience (15 years) in rail and transit engineering. Proven success in project management and team leadership. Comprehensive understanding of multi-modal transportation design standards and regulations. Ability to build and maintain client relationships. Experience in business development and proposal writing.Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license or relevant certifications are preferred.Additional Information
