Psychiatric Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Psychiatric Nurse to join our team at the Government of Nunavut. As a Psychiatric Nurse Specialist, you will play a critical role in delivering specialized mental health services to individuals in our community.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical direction and front-line service in the community, including care plan development, case management, and crisis intervention.
- Work as the only professional registered practitioner in the community to deliver specialized services to individuals with mental illness and/or problems, concurrent disorders, addictions, and suicide ideations/attempts.
- Take the lead in providing initial and ongoing assessments, medication administration and monitoring, and conferencing.
- Undergraduate degree in Nursing with experience in mental health, or an undergraduate degree in Psychiatric Nursing and a minimum of 3 years of experience as a psychiatric nurse.
- Five years of psychiatric nursing is considered an asset for this position.
- Eligibility to register with a professional government body in good standing and adhering to the legal and ethical standards.
- A valid driver's license is required.

- Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages, including Inuktut, English, and French.
- Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment.
