Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Official to join our team at destinationone Consulting. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations, and providing expert advice to clients on regulatory matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all building projects comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Inspection and Enforcement: Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations, and take enforcement action as necessary.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the development of policies and procedures related to building codes and regulations.
  • Training and Education: Provide training and education to clients and staff on building codes and regulations.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, staff, and other stakeholders on regulatory matters.
Requirements
  • Education: Completion of a diploma in Building Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Considerable experience in building inspection and regulatory compliance, preferably as a Building Official.
  • Certifications: BOABC Level 3 Certification and registration as a Building Official with the BOABC.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Advanced Education: Post-secondary education in a related field, such as engineering or architecture.
  • Specialized Training: Training in building inspection and regulatory compliance, such as the BOABC Level 3 Certification.
