Job Title: Building Official

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Official to join our team at destinationone Consulting. As a Building Official, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with building codes, regulations, and standards.

Job Summary

The Building Official will be responsible for monitoring new and existing building construction, inspecting buildings for compliance with building codes and regulations, and enforcing building bylaws and standards. This is a technical role that requires strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and standards, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor new and existing building construction to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Inspect buildings for compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Enforce building bylaws and standards
  • Provide guidance and support to building owners, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports related to building inspections and enforcement activities
Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes, regulations, and standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to analyze complex technical information and make sound judgments
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • BOABC Level 3 Qualification
  • Registration as a Building Official with the BOABC
  • Driver's Licence for the Province of British Columbia
