The Worship Ministry Leader will oversee and guide the Worship Team in accordance with the vision established by the Lead Pastor. This role involves recruiting, training, scheduling, and leading volunteer teams and part-time staff to create engaging and participatory worship experiences, as well as other worship-related content for various events or gatherings. The Worship Ministry Leader will collaborate with other ministry teams as necessary under the guidance of the Executive Pastor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- 3-5 years of experience in worship leadership, with a solid understanding of music and the technical aspects of service production, along with a proven history of leading and mentoring diverse, creative musicians.

- Exceptional vocal skills.

- Intermediate to advanced proficiency on guitar or keyboard.

- Ability to read chord charts and familiarity with the Nashville number system (playing by ear is advantageous).

- Capability to pray and communicate effectively during worship transitions.

- Knowledge of best practices in worship service design, contemporary worship music, traditional hymns, and secular songs suitable for worship settings.

- A deep passion for the worship of the local church; creativity and a constant pursuit of innovative ways to engage the congregation.

- Willingness to embrace change and adaptability in various situations.

- A collaborative team player who is open to giving and receiving feedback, willing to compromise and cooperate.

- Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

- Ability to develop individuals and systems to maximize growth and effectiveness.

- A forward-thinking individual who takes initiative and assumes responsibility.

- Must demonstrate genuine humility and work effectively within a team context.

- Successful completion of a criminal background check.

PASTORAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

A pastor at Cross Timbers embodies a commitment to pray for, provide spiritual guidance, encourage, and lead individuals to Christ. The church designates and commissions a pastor as someone entrusted with the responsibility and authority to administer, in whole or in part, the following:

- Biblical teaching to the congregation or specific groups (e.g., children, students, college, financial freedom).

- Leadership or oversight of a church ministry, program, or department.

- Execution of religious/spiritual functions of the church.

- Conducting weddings.

Full-time pastors at Cross Timbers will participate in the Pastor On-Call (POC) rotation, which helps the organization meet various pastoral needs within the church's life and ministry. Part-time pastors will support as time permits but will not be included in the POC rotation due to hour restrictions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Supervise and manage the Worship team, including regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports, providing opportunities for growth and development through clear goals and expectations.

- Plan and lead worship-related training during scheduled Team Nights.

- Prepare for and participate in weekly service production planning meetings and service walk-throughs, coordinating with production staff to ensure consistency in lighting, audio, and lyrical content with the planned set list and other creative elements.

- Oversee worship services for weekly in-person gatherings or events, providing primary leadership to the worship ministry and communicating the vision as articulated by the Lead Pastor. This includes leading staff and volunteer rehearsals and scheduled run-throughs.

- Recruit, train, schedule, and develop volunteer teams, assisting with determining placements on platforms. Responsible for maintaining a process for auditioning team members who wish to join the musicians or vocalists.

- Plan worship sets with direction from the Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor, incorporating input from other ministry leaders as needed.

- Maintain regular communication with staff, volunteers, and other ministry leaders regarding event or service support, including details related to worship sets, song arrangements, leading assignments, and song flow.

- Manage the worship budget, tracking expenditures and making recommendations for necessary equipment or repairs. This includes completing and submitting required documentation to the Finance Department.

- Ensure the proper functioning of worship-related equipment in collaboration with the Production team.

- Utilize tracking software as needed.

- Oversee scheduling and verification of worship staff and volunteers for all in-person services, events, and gatherings, including providing a worship team for other ministries as required.

- Manage worship resources on Planning Center, ensuring materials are provided by established deadlines.

WORK HOURS:

- Full-Time Positions - There is a 40-hour weekly work expectation for all full-time employees.

- The established work week is Sunday through Saturday for payroll purposes, including tracking part-time hours.

- Full-time and regular part-time positions may be approved for a flexible schedule, which includes the potential for remote work. Managers have discretion regarding flexibility in conjunction with Cross Timbers' practices.

- A finalized schedule will be established with the Manager but typically falls within the general hours noted below.

- A 1-hour lunch break is provided and required to be taken by an employee. The actual time of the lunch break is determined with the manager's input.

- Employees must understand that ministry does not always conform to a standard schedule, and working outside of that schedule may include weekends, evenings, and holidays for essential events. Additional hours may be accommodated with compensatory time and/or temporary adjustments to the normal schedule as determined by Manager discretion.

- This position requires physical activity, including bending, stooping, and stretching, as well as occasional lifting of boxes weighing up to 25-50 pounds. Work is primarily performed indoors but may involve limited exposure to outdoor conditions.
