The Clinical Therapist is a key member of the Adult Service team in Mental Health and Addictions at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. Reporting to the Manager, the Clinical Therapist provides assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and crisis management for clients. The Clinical Therapist carries out the general duties of the Adult Service team, including participating in quality initiatives in the program of care, engaging in collaborative person-centred care, and utilizing available information technology to support best practice.
About YouWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a clinical health-related discipline, such as social work, psychology, counseling, nursing, or occupational therapy. They will also have current registration with the relevant provincial regulatory body and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Provide assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and crisis management for clients
- Participate in quality initiatives in the program of care
- Engage in collaborative person-centred care
- Utilize available information technology to support best practice
- Provide supervision and mentorship as part of a community of practice
- Master's degree in a clinical health-related discipline
- Current registration with the relevant provincial regulatory body
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in providing individual and group evidence-informed therapies based on care plans to clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or concurrent disorders
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in collaborating with families in relation to sharing information and implementing family-sensitive services that involve families in the care and recovery of people living with mental illness and addiction
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide, and violence risk assessment/intervention
- Non-violent crisis intervention and suicide risk assessment preferred
- Demonstrated awareness of community resources and programs
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
- High level of written/oral/interpersonal communication skills; experience with conflict resolution
- Ability to work effectively in multiple software applications required
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision, and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
- Permanent full-time position
- 75 hours bi-weekly
- This position requires traveling within the community
Clinical Therapist: $49.05 Hourly
Clinical Therapist (Developmental): $42.01 Hourly
