Job Duties & Responsibilities
As an Equipment Operator, you will be tasked with earth moving, grading, material pushing, and clearing on projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Stripping overburden, stacking, stockpiling, and reclamation.
- Placing blast rock.
- Running a lift off of stakes while maintaining a clean lift for trucks.
- Road building, cut fills, staking, and understanding soil conditions.
- Sloping, grading, and operating GPS equipment.
- Conducting routine equipment inspections, thoroughly checking tires, fluids, lights, and brakes to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Adhering to project specifications and guidelines to uphold quality standards.
- Promoting our safety culture by following Morgan's Safe Work Procedures and PPE policies.
- Exhibiting sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrating versatility by collaborating effectively with team members and independently managing tasks.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in heavy civil earthworks, construction, mining, or oilfield maintenance services.
- Experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator operating dozers (D6-D10), excavators (336, 349, 390), or graders (H/M series).
- Proven experience with technical specifications and grade plans, road construction, and mining environments is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in stripping overburden, ripping, placing topsoil, and reclamation activities in an active mine site.
- Must possess (or be willing to obtain) CSTS-09/OSSA Regional or BSO or CSO, Intermediate First Aid, Ground Disturbance Level 2 for tracked gear operators.
- Able to shovel out equipment tracks.
- Provide your own steel-toed 6" lace-up boots (CSA Approved).
- Able to repetitively and safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Alcohol, drug, and fit-to-work testing is a pre-employment requirement.
Working Conditions:
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including rain, shine, or snow, thriving in diverse environments.
- Expect to manage noise and vibrations on the job.
- Must be able to work up to 12 hours a day.
- Must be available for day or night shifts.
- Willingness to work in remote areas, experiencing a unique lifestyle on a rotational schedule, with accommodation provided.
- Fly-In/Fly-Out options available.
Rate range: $30 - $40 per hour, based on experience.
