Job Summary

The Crew Lead is a key member of our team at BGIS, responsible for overseeing the delivery of preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services on facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems for multiple facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of individual contributors and assign, prioritize, and monitor work progress to ensure completion and adherence to timeliness, quality standards, and all other related requirements.
  • Review work for completeness and accuracy, ensuring quality adherence is maintained.
  • Guide, coach, and train direct reports and provide input for performance reviews.
  • Oversee and monitor the activities and performance of Technicians within assigned facilities, ensuring that activities are performed in accordance with established processes and internal and external requirements.
  • Oversee the proper application and execution of processes and practices to ensure achievement of and adherence to all requirements.
  • Oversee and perform regular facility, facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems monitoring and inspection, preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure facility uptime objectives are met, uninterrupted client operation, and asset integrity of assigned facilities are maintained.
  • Oversee and monitor assigned facilities by conducting facility walkthroughs, mechanical and electrical equipment and system monitoring and inspection.
  • Oversee and maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical building systems and equipment.
  • Oversee and respond to routine and on-demand service requests and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Oversee the maintenance of work order records within service management maintenance databases and initiate documents to obtain formal approval of work required.
  • Coordinate and assist in the implementation of preventative maintenance programs, ensuring that deficiencies are identified, recorded, and escalated, and related documentations are maintained.
  • Coordinate and participate in facility-related projects.
  • Oversee and maintain all assigned tools and arrange for repair and replacement where required, submitting all expenditures on a timely basis.
  • Provide, participate in, and support training, safety meetings, operational meetings, tool box talks, etc.
  • Be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby, and emergency call-outs as they arise.
  • Assist in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through the manner in which work is performed and services delivered.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Requirements

  • Be able to work shifts, be on-call, and be available to respond to emergencies.
  • Be willing to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Be able and willing to drive to and perform work at multiple sites.

Education, Job-Related Years of Experience, and Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school completion plus a specialized technical or business course.

JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE: More than three years up to five years.

Knowledge and Skills

  • More than 5 years of facility operations and maintenance work experience.
  • Previous people leadership experience, preferred.
  • High school diploma plus trades training and certification.
  • Ability to lead a team of individuals.
  • Highly-advanced ability to adhere to processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
  • Highly advanced ability to maintain and repair building mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Highly advanced building mechanical and electrical equipment and system troubleshooting and resolution skills.
  • Current knowledge of fire, life, safety, and building codes and standards and ability to research and apply related codes and standards.
  • Possesses a high level of environmental, health, and safety mindset. Ability to perform work in a safe manner.
  • Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency.
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

Trade license in one or more of the following - required:

  • Journeyman level Refrigeration license. Gasfitter I & II license in addition to a journeyman level refrigeration license, an asset.
  • Journeyman level Electrical license.
  • Journeyman level Plumbing license.
  • Must meet enhanced security clearance requirements.
  • Valid drivers' license.
