We are seeking a highly skilled Energy Systems Operations Specialist to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing site-related assistance, building technical expertise, and liaising with customers, service providers, and other stakeholders to maximize the performance of our Energy Systems Operations group.
Key Responsibilities- Support Energy Systems Operation Leads/Managers in coordinating and executing special projects, such as replacing or repairing on-site assets.
- Perform entry-level tasks, including regular visual inspections and reporting for on-site FAES assets.
- Custodian for organizing access to sites, organizing, and monitoring on-site asset housekeeping requirements.
- Facilitate and monitor preventative maintenance work and similar activities performed by 3rd party contractors on FAES assets.
- On-site maintenance and storage of all documents, spare parts, etc. relevant to on-site FAES assets.
- Work co-operatively with other employees with minimum supervision.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with customers, contractors, internal stakeholders, and other departments.
- Remain current and knowledgeable about various energy systems, conventional and alternative systems, including heating, cooling, and ventilation (HVAC & R, pumps, fans, motors, and boilers).
- Participate in industry working groups and training as required.
- Completion of a diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in a related field such as Facilities Management, Operations Management, Energy Management, or HVAC.
- A minimum of two (2) years of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Certificate in operations management or candidate will be considered as an asset.
- Knowledge of direct digital control (DDC) would be considered an asset.
- A valid driver's license (Class 5) and a clean driving record.
- Formal operational and safety training including: First Aid / CPR, H2S Alive, TDG / WHMIS, and Defensive Driving.
- Knowledge of safety management, processes, and procedures.
- Knowledge of various energy systems, conventional and alternative systems, including heating, cooling, and ventilation (HVAC & R, pumps, fans, motors, and boilers) would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of computer and MS Office systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and demanding work schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
