Plant Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Superintendent to join our team at Holcim. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our concrete batch plant, including supervising concrete mixer drivers and plant maintenance personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Health and Safety: Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas. Responsible for ensuring safety guidelines are followed by employees on a daily basis.
- Batching: Schedule concrete deliveries, provide pricing to customers, order raw materials as required for production, and ensure accurate batching to produce a quality product that meets customer requirements.
- HR/Coaching & Mentoring: Report to the Manager regarding situations that require disciplinary actions, foster an effective environment for employee relations, and ensure employees have a daily job list and are informed of any irregular work hours.
- Environment: Demonstrate a commitment to meet/exceed environmental compliance, have an understanding of procedures for environmental issues such as spills, dust control, truck idling, etc., and ensure spill containment is on hand at all times.
- Reporting: Maintain an accurate account of the volume sold, rejected, and resold on a daily basis, submit reports on time to the area administrator, and ensure all COD money is collected before concrete is sold.
- Sales: Communicate opportunities and threats to the Plant Manager and Sales Representative, communicate customer issues with the Plant Manager and/or appropriate Lafarge employee, and ensure all COD calls are followed up on and strive to up-sell all CODs towards a VAP product.
- Transportation & Logistics: Supervise Ready Mix drivers on a daily basis, direct the activities of drivers while in the plant yard and through radio communications while on the job sites, and work with the mechanic to ensure efficient scheduling for routine maintenance on the plant and loader.
- Administration: Manage inventory of materials and products through interface with Command and SAP, perform physical inventory counts each month, and order materials for concrete components and supplies for resale.
- Operations Analysis and Action Tracking: Effectively utilize KPIs, Performance Efficiency Reviews, financial statements, and operational reports to track performance, establish effective action plans, and continuously improve operations.
- Plant Image: Maintain the plant in accordance with standard guidelines for plant image, ensure all policies regarding day-to-day operations are followed, and monitor concrete washout is clean and drivers are held accountable for following set procedures.
- Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience
- Experience in the ready mix business preferred
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
- Good organization and planning skills
- Able to multi-task, prioritize, and maintain composure in a busy environment
- Good computer skills (Word, Excel, SAP, Command-Alkon)
- Self-motivated
- Available to work overtime as needed
- Customer service-oriented
