The Reactor Core Physics division at SNC-Lavalin is involved in the design and analytical processes necessary for the development of new CANDU Nuclear Power Plants, as well as ensuring the operational safety of existing CANDU facilities worldwide. The entry-level reactor physicist will collaborate with experienced professionals to conduct technical analyses utilizing advanced reactor physics software, including WIMS, DRAGON, RFSP, and MCNP.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Conduct reactor physics analyses to support design, operational efficiency, and safety protocols.
  • Prepare data inputs for computational models and execute reactor physics simulations in accordance with specific analytical scenarios.
  • Aggregate findings from various analyses.
  • Document analytical processes in technical reports and present findings in team meetings.
  • Develop, modify, or adapt FORTRAN programming as necessary for tailored applications, including the implementation of innovative methodologies or new calculation types.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A university degree in Physics or Nuclear Engineering or a related field; experience in reactor physics is highly advantageous.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Familiarity with computing environments; proficiency in both Linux and Windows is a strong asset, along with programming skills, particularly in FORTRAN.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally for meetings and workshops.
