Job Title: Elementary Teacher - English Language Learners

We are seeking a qualified Elementary Teacher to join our team as an English Language Learners (ELL) Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English language skills to students in an elementary school setting.

Job Summary:

The ELL Teacher will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters the academic and social growth of ELL students. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of language acquisition principles and be able to design and implement effective instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of ELL students.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach English language skills to ELL students in an elementary school setting
  • Design and implement effective instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of ELL students
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters the academic and social growth of ELL students
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives to support ELL students
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or academic equivalent in an appropriate field of study
  • Relevant methodology courses (primary and/or intermediate)
  • Valid BC Teaching Certificate
  • Knowledge of a broad range of effective instructional strategies in order to meet the diverse needs of all students
  • Knowledge of consultative and collaborative strategies
  • Recent, successful, substantive teaching or practicum experience in the relevant grade level
  • Required ELL Qualifications: a Bachelor of Education degree or academic equivalent, courses equal to 30 credits including 12 credits in linguistics (of which 6 credits shall relate to second language acquisition) plus 6 credits in ESL methodology and 6 credits in cross-culture education
