Job SummaryAs a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you will play a vital role in assisting clients with various personal care and household tasks within their homes. Your responsibilities will encompass providing compassionate support, promoting client independence, and ensuring their safety and comfort.
Essential Functions- Personal Care: Assist clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and other personal hygiene needs. Provide gentle care and support to individuals with dementia, utilizing redirection techniques and communication strategies to enhance their well-being.
- Companion/Sitter Services: Offer companionship, engage in conversation, and provide respite for families. Accompany clients on outings or errands as needed.
- Household Management: Perform light housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, laundry, and meal preparation to maintain a clean and comfortable living environment.
- Medication Assistance: Assist clients with self-administering medications as directed by their healthcare providers.
- High school diploma or equivalent certificate
- Successful completion of a Provincial-approved Certified Personal Support Worker course
- At least six months of experience as a PSW in homes or facilities
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are preferred
