Framer Carpenter

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Framer Carpenter to join our team at Velocity Enterprises Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
• Fitting and installing windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
• Instructing apprentices and supervising other workers.
• Estimating costs and materials.
• Maintaining, repairing, and renovating residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.

• Supporting newcomers and refugees with foreign credential recognition.

• Participating in government or community programs that support youth employment.
• Offering on-the-job training tailored to youth.

• Participating in government or community programs that support Veterans.
• Offering mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for Veterans.
• Providing awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for Veterans.
• Recruiting Veterans and other candidates with military experience through targeted hiring initiatives.
• Assisting with immediate transition needs of Veterans, such as relocation and housing.
• Offering workshops, counselling services, or other resources to help Veterans navigate their transition into the civilian workforce.
• Supporting Veterans in translating their military skills and experience into the language of the civilian job market.

Support for Indigenous People

• Participating in government or community programs that support Indigenous people.
• Offering mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.
• Developing and maintaining relationships with Indigenous communities, Indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.
• Providing cultural competency training and awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.
• Facilitating access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers.

Support for Mature Workers

• Participating in government or community programs that support mature workers.
