The Licensed Plumbing Technician is a skilled professional who possesses a valid Certificate of Qualification from the relevant provincial authority. The individual will be responsible for managing facility systems, executing preventative and corrective maintenance, and performing routine services on mechanical and electrical equipment within the assigned facilities, adhering to company policies and trade certifications. The Licensed Plumbing Technician will also ensure compliance with established processes and standards, including environmental, health and safety, security, and fire protection regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Installation & Troubleshooting

Assess piping system requirements and determine appropriate pipe sizing. Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to meet specified dimensions. Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to design plumbing layouts for water supply and drainage systems in both residential and commercial properties. Create openings in walls or floors to accommodate piping and fittings. Install, replace, and repair valves, pumps, and other components of plumbing systems and fixtures. Conduct tests on pipes to identify leaks and other issues.

Maintenance

Execute tasks in accordance with established protocols and practices. Adhere to all internal and external regulations, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection standards. Respond to routine and urgent service requests, performing both preventative and corrective maintenance as needed. Conduct regular inspections and monitoring of facility plumbing systems to ensure operational uptime and safety standards are met, maintaining asset integrity. Follow health and safety guidelines and comply with building codes. Assist in implementing a preventative maintenance program, ensuring deficiencies are documented and escalated appropriately. Maintain an accurate inventory of tools and equipment, arranging for repairs and replacements as necessary.

Client Relations

Provide insights regarding facility plumbing conditions and suggest improvements and repairs. Collaborate on facility-related projects as needed.

Administrative Duties

Participate in facility-related projects and initiatives. Ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies, procedures, and guidelines related to environmental, health and safety, and fire protection. Maintain all assigned tools and arrange for necessary repairs and replacements. Submit all expense reports in a timely manner. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

College Diploma/Certification is mandatory. Proven experience as a licensed Plumber is essential. Strong adherence to processes and practices related to facility operations and maintenance. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Up-to-date knowledge of fire, life safety, and building codes, with the ability to research and apply relevant standards. A strong commitment to environmental, health, and safety practices. Exceptional client-service orientation with a sense of urgency. Effective communication skills for data exchange and clarification. Mentoring abilities to support the development of junior technicians. Willingness to work shifts and be available for on-call and emergency situations. Compliance with Personal Protective Equipment requirements. Must meet enhanced security clearance standards. Valid driver's license is required.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation - Required

Must possess a valid Journeyman/Journeyperson Plumbing license for Manitoba.

Additional Assets

Progress towards Building Environment Systems (BES) Operation Class 1 certification. Facilities Technician Certification from an accredited institution. Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT) certification.
