Renewable Energy Specialist

TransAlta is seeking a highly skilled Renewable Energy Specialist to provide expert-level advice and technical leadership across operational and growth engineering teams. This role involves providing technical input and quality assurance guidance across the asset lifecycle, including procurement, manufacturing, testing, compliance, maintenance, and operation.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Identify and communicate enterprise risks related to engineering practices, standards, procurement, maintenance, testing, and operations.
- Develop and implement equipment engineering standards and specifications to support the overall engineering governance program.
- Implement fleet-wide asset health and monitoring strategies to optimize asset performance.
- Provide expert technical input into equipment failure investigations and asset management processes.
- Lead root cause failure assessments and develop repair/mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with business development teams to perform technical assessments and due diligence evaluations of growth investment opportunities.
- Establish and maintain a network of peers to monitor industry practices and technological developments.
- Discharge technical work proactively and autonomously, with minimal direct input from Manager or peers.
- Manage external engineering contracts and/or consultants as required.
- Communicate lessons learned and best practices among field-based engineering teams.
Requirements
- Strong technical expertise in renewable energy and engineering practices.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and make decisions with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with equipment engineering standards and specifications.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
