Nova Scotia Health seeks a Family Physician with expertise in Care of the Elderly to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to enhance the quality of care for older adults in the Annapolis Valley.
The successful candidate will provide advanced-level patient care and consultation for issues commonly seen in older adults, support peer-to-peer education and consulting, and lead or participate in interprofessional healthcare teams.
The Annapolis Valley offers a unique opportunity to work in a variety of care settings, including hospital, home, long-term care, and assisted living residences.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive care to older adults, addressing health, physical, and cognitive function, and independence
- Support the development of comprehensive care plans and lead or participate in interprofessional healthcare teams
- Collaborate with primary care teams to enhance continuity and capacity for comprehensive care
- Provide education and leadership related to healthcare of older adults to multiple levels of learners
- Work in hospital settings as a consultant or most responsible physician
- Participate in research to advance the field of healthcare for older adults
- Full-time, permanent
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
- Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada
- Certificate of Added Competencies in Care of the Elderly required
- Evidence of insurance with the Canadian Medical Protective Association
