Care of the Elderly Physician

Nova Scotia Health Authority seeks a Family Physician with a Certificate of Added Competency in Care of the Elderly to work with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care to older adults in the Annapolis Valley.
The successful candidate will work closely with the senior care team and provide liaison with the Western Zone Geriatrician(s) to enhance the capacity for comprehensive care in the practice and community.
The Annapolis Valley has a range of healthcare services, including ambulatory care, cardiovascular services, clinical dietetics, and more.
Responsibilities- Provide advanced-level patient care and consultation for issues commonly seen in older adults that affect health, physical and cognitive function, and independence.
- Support peer-to-peer education and consulting to enhance continuity and capacity for comprehensive care in the practice and community.
- Lead or act as a member of an interprofessional healthcare team to provide leadership and education related to healthcare of the older adults to multiple levels of learners.
- Work in hospital settings as a consultant or as the most responsible physician, providing care in rehabilitation, acute care, post-acute hospital facility, and emergency room settings.
- Participate in research to advance the field of healthcare for the older adults.
- Full-time, permanent position.
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
- Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
- Certificate of Added Competency in Care of the Elderly required.
- Evidence of insurance with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.
