We are currently seeking a:

Adult Front Line Support Worker

(Full Time -- $22.09/hr)

House of Friendship Outreach Program


Are you knowledgeable about health and social determinants relevant to our community?


This role is designed for an individual with a deep understanding of health and social determinants, particularly for clients who have faced homelessness. The Front Line Support Worker will operate within a collaborative team environment, providing essential support to clients utilizing our 30-bed co-ed emergency shelter program and House of Friendship Services. Key responsibilities include:

  • Day-to-day client support and crisis intervention;
  • Food preparation and delivery;
  • Bed preparation and intake processes;
  • Supervision of drop-in services;
  • Facilitating access to personal storage;
  • Data entry and documentation;
  • Referrals to community-based programs and skill development opportunities.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • A diploma in Social Services or a combination of relevant education and experience;
  • A willingness and capability to engage with at-risk adults across various settings, including residential, drop-in, and community environments;
  • Familiarity with community services, resources, and social determinants affecting the unhoused population;
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities in a culturally sensitive manner;
  • Certifications in First Aid, Class 4 Driver's License (an asset), CPI-Non-violent crisis intervention, Suicide Intervention, and Food Safe, or a willingness to obtain these certifications;
  • The ability to pass a criminal record check;
  • Experience or awareness of community resources and systems that assist adults in need, demonstrating initiative and the ability to work independently while being an effective team member.
