About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to provide legal support, guidance, and direction to the Saskatchewan Health Authority. As a key leader in healthcare, you will partner with system leaders to achieve our province's healthcare goals.
Key Responsibilities- Provide legal support for delivery of health services, accreditation, legislative and regulatory compliance, privacy and access to information, Practitioner Staff Affairs, and risk management matters.
- Negotiate, draft legal documents, and represent the SHA in disputes, arbitrations, and matters before courts and administrative tribunals.
- Advise and train regarding statute, case law, and contract interpretation.
- Represent the SHA in negotiations, ADR, and other legal matters.
- Experience in civil and administrative litigation, medical professional practice regulation, privacy and access to information, and diverse areas of health law and public health regulation.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Licensed and in good standing with regulatory bodies, if applicable.
- Advanced critical thinking skills.
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and coach others.
- Knowledge of negotiation techniques, conflict resolution, and mediation skills.
