Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Legal Counsel to join our team on a part-time basis. As a key member of our City Solicitor's Office, you will provide in-house legal services to the City of Saskatoon, including City Council, Committees of Council, the Administration, and the City's Boards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and representation to the City in various areas, including litigation, municipal law, planning, and administrative law.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement policies and processes related to legal matters.
  • Coordinate with Divisions to identify and implement legal solutions to serve the business needs of the City.
  • Perform a complete range of municipal and corporate legal services, including bylaw enforcement, labour law, contracts, planning and development law, litigation, and legislative drafting.
Requirements
  • Law degree from an accredited school.
  • Membership, or eligibility for membership, in the Law Society of Saskatchewan.
  • Knowledge of applicable Provincial legislation and regulations pertaining to municipal bylaws and a municipal corporation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, the legal industry, various professionals, and civic officials.
  • Ability to work as a member of an office team with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
