The Lead Financial Analyst will manage the comprehensive financial cycle within the organization. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, this role is crucial in ensuring that daily financial operations are executed with precision and efficiency, while also driving ongoing enhancements to optimize processes and financial controls. The individual will work closely with various departments and the operations team.
Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership and operational teams throughout the organization to provide insightful financial reporting, analysis, and strategic guidance.
  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and execute all financial activities and accounting functions.
  • Monitor, track, and report on all financial and accounting key performance indicators (KPIs) and problem-solving initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within the department and across the organization, making recommendations and implementing process enhancements with relevant teams.
  • Review, revise, create, implement, maintain, and enhance all accounting policies, procedures, systems, and controls, including general ledger and financial reporting.
  • Prepare, review, and present monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, managing transactions related to general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, financial reporting, and project accounting.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting and oversee annual external audit processes.
  • Guarantee that all financial records are maintained in accordance with Canadian GAAP.
  • Manage all construction draw receipts, submissions, payments, and employee payroll.
  • Conduct periodic audits of general ledger entries.
  • Oversee project and company budget management, cash flow tracking, and forecasting.
  • Develop banking relationships to secure credit for high-growth operations.
  • Analyze financial results to ensure sustainable profitability, monitor trends, costs, and compliance with budgets, and provide regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management.
  • Offer strategic advice on capital financing options to support organizational growth needs.
  • Coordinate and/or prepare tax schedules, returns, and related information.
  • Manage relationships with insurance providers to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee all tax planning and compliance with federal, provincial, local, payroll, WSIB, property, and other applicable taxes.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or accounting with a CPA designation (mandatory).
  • Experience in full-cycle accounting within the construction sector is preferred.
  • Proven track record of building and/or managing a high-performing finance team, with examples of developing and promoting team members.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing accounting controls and processes.
  • Familiarity with software such as Sage, Procore, TimberScan, and CRM systems is advantageous.
  • Strong technical accounting skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks.
  • Customer-focused mindset, understanding the importance of delivering value to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Integrity and respect for all, with a commitment to following through on promises.
