Job Summary

The University of Waterloo is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Campus Wellness team. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing primary health care to University of Waterloo students and their dependents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced clinical setting, adhering to established standards.
  • Assess patient health, provide recommendations, and accurately document information.
  • Provide care in complex situations with unpredictable outcomes.
  • Perform crisis intervention, family planning, immunization clinics, alcohol counseling, nutrition advice, and health education.
  • Apply confidentiality standards of nursing practice.
  • Independently identify acuity levels using accepted triage practices.
  • Rotate between Student and Family Health Clinics, functioning within all nursing assignments.

Qualifications

  • RN graduate from a recognized School of Nursing and member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Preference given to candidates with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Current CPR or Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required.
  • Recognized triage course or willingness to obtain within one year of hire.
  • Minimum of 3 years providing patient care across the age continuum and dealing with health care issues.
  • Experience with health promotion, including immunizations, communicable diseases, sexual health, and harm reduction measures.
  • Experience in public health, emergency, urgent care, or crisis intervention required.
  • Current experience using an electronic medical record is an asset.
  • Good working relationships with colleagues, professional staff, and the inter-professional team.
  • Ability to organize time and set priorities.
  • Willingness to function as a resource nurse with training and mentorship.
