Job Summary

Wood's Homes is seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth and Family Counsellor to join our Wheatland program. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality services to children, youth, and families in a structured setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and Maintain a Structured Setting: Foster the development of personal and social functioning for each client, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Participate in Team Meetings and Training: Engage actively in supervisory meetings, team meetings, and designated in-service training to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
  • Provide Therapeutic Services: Offer a range of therapeutic responsibilities for children, youth, and their families, including attendance at case conferences, involvement in intervention strategies, consultations, school meetings, and family meetings.
  • Ensure Program Functioning: Maintain the upkeep of the living space of the program, ensuring it meets the requirements of the Licensing Department, and provide transportation for children, youth, and families as needed.
  • Execute Other Responsibilities: Perform various tasks associated with program functioning, including meal preparation and cleaning, as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Undergraduate Degree: Hold a diploma or undergraduate degree in the Social Sciences, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Nursing, or a related field, with a minimum of two to four years of related experience.
  • Certifications and Licenses: Possess current CPR and First Aid Certification, and a valid Class 5 driver's license with own transportation.
  • Experience and Skills: Have experience working with young people, preferably in a therapeutic setting, and demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
