Job Summary:

The Town of Strathmore is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Summer Camp Counsellor to join our team at the Strathmore Motor Products Sports Centre. As a Summer Camp Counsellor, you will play a key role in ensuring the well-being and safety of all participants, facilitating games and activities, providing daily feedback to the Sports Centre Manager, and maintaining a fun and inclusive environment for the participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement daily camp programs for children aged 5-12 years, incorporating a range of activities and games to promote physical and social development.
  • Ensure the health and safety of children participating in the summer camp program, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Act as a positive role model and leader at all times, promoting a culture of respect, inclusivity, and teamwork.
  • Participate in all camp-related activities, including field trips, games, and other events, to ensure a comprehensive and engaging experience for participants.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all equipment is well-maintained and accessible to participants.
  • Build positive relationships with camp staff, participants, and parents, fostering a sense of community and cooperation.
  • Adhere to all Town of Strathmore policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Sports Centre Manager or other senior staff members.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children, parents, and staff in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs and circumstances, including strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • High 5 Certification or another Recreation Certificate for children would be considered an asset.
  • Coaching or leadership training and experience would be considered an asset, along with previous experience working with youth and youth programs.
  • Possession of Standard First Aid/CPR-C certification.
