Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at BC Women's Hospital and Health Centre. As a Registered Nurse, Gyne Surgical Services, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver direct patient care, including reviewing patient history, developing care plans, and collaborating with the healthcare team.
  • Provide high-quality patient care in accordance with ORNAC standards, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for patients and families.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including documentation of health information, nursing observations, and interventions.
  • Participate in the orientation and continuing education of new learners, promoting a culture of excellence and professionalism.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and operational requirements that support patient and family needs, while maintaining ORNAC standards.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff, adhering to established emergency procedures and ORNAC standards.
  • Support the implementation and evaluation of nursing research and quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the advancement of patient care.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Successful completion of a post-graduate program in Operating Room Nursing or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
  • CPR Training – Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) – Level I.
  • Current PALS certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to relate effectively with patients and their families.
  • Ability to participate as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
