Position Summary:
WES is in search of a seasoned leader to assume the role of Senior Director, responsible for orchestrating strategic initiatives within the Canadian Office to strengthen government relations and shape public policy. This position will work in tandem with the Senior Director of Policy and Research to support global expansion efforts and provide strategic insights to the Global CEO Office and various operational divisions.
This pivotal role demands a forward-thinking and adaptable leader who will collaborate closely with the Managing Director to deliver strategic analysis, cultivate essential partnerships, and advance WES's mission in Canada, focusing on enhancing global mobility and the integration of skilled individuals into educational and professional frameworks.
Work Environment:
WES operates as a remote-first organization, allowing the Senior Director to work from a preferred location, with occasional travel required for stakeholder meetings. The role necessitates participation in in-person gatherings approximately every six weeks.
Key Responsibilities:
- External Relations: Oversee government relations at all levels, including contract negotiations and fostering strategic partnerships with advocacy groups, think tanks, and government officials to promote immigration and employment policies.
- Strategic Planning: Lead the development of a comprehensive strategic framework for the Canadian Office, ensuring alignment with WES's overarching goals and objectives.
- Operational Management: Manage the governance model and operational practices of the Canada Office, ensuring effective resource allocation and collaboration across teams.
- Leadership Development: Mentor and guide direct reports and team members, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration within the organization.
Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., business administration, social sciences).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in social impact initiatives, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
- Proven track record in navigating complex stakeholder relationships and influencing public policy.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to adapt to changing environments.
