Dean, Faculty of Science

Odgers Berndtson is pleased to invite nominations and applications for the role of Dean, Faculty of Science at the University of British Columbia.

About the Role

The Dean will be a strategic leader who can drive the Faculty's mission to advance knowledge and understanding through research, teaching, and innovation. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of scholarship, academic administration, and leadership, with a passion for the sciences and a commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Faculty, driving innovation and excellence in research, teaching, and service
  • Develop and implement a vision for the Faculty, aligned with the University's strategic goals
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external partners
  • Oversee the management of human, financial, and physical resources
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and equity

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field
  • Record of scholarship consistent with appointment at the rank of Full Professor
  • Experience in academic administration, including successfully managing human, financial, and physical infrastructure resources
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external partners

What We Offer

The University of British Columbia offers a competitive salary range of $320,000 to $380,000, as well as a comprehensive benefits package and a dynamic work environment.
