About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our team at Canada Life. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in the planning, control, and analysis of our expenses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Expense Studies
    • Develop and maintain in-depth expense studies to support business decisions and drive cost savings.
    • Prepare and submit expense reports to industry surveys and stakeholders.
    • Update and refine our expense allocation process to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Staffing Models
    • Track and analyze work volume for key operational areas and conduct volume reprojection.
    • Collaborate with business areas to stay current with trends, developments, and operational changes that impact staffing levels and productivity.
    • Develop and maintain staffing models to ensure optimal resource allocation and recommend hiring plans to achieve desired operational results.
    • Participate in annual budget and multi-year projection processes for key operational areas.
    • Develop and maintain work procedures and controls to ensure effective applications.
    • Communicate analysis results to business partners and senior leaders through dashboards, graphs, charts, and PowerPoint presentations.
    • Support ad-hoc expense analysis and provide insights to inform business decisions.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in business, mathematics, statistics, or a related field, and/or relevant work experience.
  • CPA, CFA, or ASA certification is an asset but not required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI or Tableau is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels and work within a team environment.
