About the Role: We are looking for a skilled and seasoned Senior Product Designer to become an integral part of the UIVIZ team, which operates within Scotiabank's Product Design community. This team uniquely blends UX design with UI/visual design, interaction principles, and creative direction to redefine the creation of impactful, engaging, and aesthetically pleasing experiences across our extensive digital product offerings.
Key Responsibilities:- Customer-Centric Focus: Foster a culture centered around client engagement to enhance relationships and utilize the broader resources of the Bank.
- Design Influence: Significantly shape the design strategies for digital interactions that reach millions of users daily.
- Visual Strategy Evolution: Advance Scotiabank's digital visual approach across various products and experiences, setting and refining design quality standards in collaboration with the design community.
- Collaborative Ideation: Work closely with fellow UX/Product Designers to brainstorm and visualize innovative concepts that enhance user experiences.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Partner with the wider design community, including Design Strategists, Service Designers, and Content Writers, to develop and refine ideas that support the vision and storytelling of our products.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Effectively present and communicate the rationale behind your design decisions to key stakeholders and team members.
- User Understanding: Gain insights into user motivations and needs through thorough design research and usability principles, combined with your intuitive design expertise.
- Advocacy for Accessibility: Promote and implement accessible design principles throughout the design process.
- Mentorship: Provide constructive feedback and guidance to Designers at various experience levels.
- Performance in Open Environments: Thrive in a transparent setting, demonstrating persuasive and engaging communication while being self-motivated.
- Risk Awareness: Consider the Bank's risk appetite and culture in daily activities and decision-making.

- High-Performance Advocacy: Champion a high-performance culture and contribute to an inclusive workplace.

- 3-5+ years of comprehensive experience in end-to-end product/UX/UI design, with advanced skills in UI and visual design.
- Educational background in Design, Art Direction, or related fields.
- Exceptional storytelling ability, capable of bringing narratives to life through visually rich presentations.
- Passion for developing impactful design standards and systems that simplify complex solutions.
- Meticulous attention to detail, showcasing mastery in composition, imagery, typography, iconography, and color.
- Awareness of current design and cultural trends, staying updated with the latest in design, music, art, and technology.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas effectively to designers and cross-functional teams.
- A compelling work portfolio that highlights excellence in UI/UX design and visual storytelling.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma, and/or Sketch.
- A quick learner with a keen interest in understanding both simple and complex financial solutions.
- A resilient personality, open to feedback and committed to ongoing improvement.
- A proven track record of applying design thinking principles and user-centered design methodologies in professional or everyday scenarios.
- Bonus Skills: Experience in illustration, animation, and/or video editing; familiarity with prototyping software.
