Assistant Researcher for Aging and Technology

Position Overview:
This role is a vital part of the Temporary Research Positions within the Employee Group at Brock University, a distinguished institution recognized as one of Canada's top comprehensive universities. We pride ourselves on being a leading employer in the Hamilton-Niagara region, celebrated for our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Opportunity: We are seeking a Research Assistant to join the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies, within the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences.
Project Focus: The project, titled SOARWell-AiP, investigates the sociotechnical aspects of wellbeing and aging in place through a longitudinal mixed-methods approach.
Supervision: This position will be under the guidance of Dr. Alisa Grigorovich.
Role Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will primarily work remotely, with occasional travel required for data collection. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the recruitment, screening, and onboarding of research participants.
- Providing training and technical support for the use of voice-activated virtual assistants.
- Conducting semi-structured interviews with participants.
- Engaging in the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data.
- Creating knowledge translation materials for various audiences, including community and academic stakeholders.
- Editing and proofreading research documents.
- Performing additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Master’s degree or be a current Master’s student with a strong background in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
- The ability to travel for initial participant engagement.
- Proficiency in analytical software such as SPSS and NVivo.
- Exceptional written communication and organizational skills.
- The capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a research team.
- Experience with voice-activated virtual assistants is advantageous.
