Composite Tooling Technician
The Composite Tooling Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that all tooling is ready for production, which includes masters, molds, jigs, fixtures, templates, and production aids. This position involves making recommendations for safety improvements, cost efficiencies, and innovative tooling projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the surfaces of layup tools through appropriate sanding and sealing techniques.
- Replace Tool Tec and components as necessary to ensure optimal performance.
- Adhere to PM work orders and production specifications for tooling upkeep.
- Update tooling information and schedules within the PM program.
- Engage in tooling design evaluations for outsourced projects.
- Support new product launches to align with manufacturing requirements.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years' experience in a technical domain, preferably with aerospace or automotive exposure.
- Hands-on expertise in composite assembly, bonding, core cutting, autoclaves, curing ovens, thermal presses, and related processes.
- Knowledge of composite layup, vacuum bagging techniques, part surface preparation, and painting methods.
- Proficient in metal and wood working, pattern making, and the application of 5S principles.
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong attention to detail and a sense of accountability.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Service-oriented mindset with mechanical aptitude.
- Effective problem-solving skills and ability to conduct root cause analysis.
- Proficient in interpreting blueprints and utilizing measuring instruments.
