We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Worker to join our team at Island Health. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Social Work degree from a recognized university and current full registration with the BC College of Social Workers.
The successful candidate will have post-degree preparation in care for the seriously and persistently mentally ill and/or significant substance use (concurrent disorders), including psychosocial rehabilitation, chronic mental illnesses, treatment of major mental illnesses, and psychiatric treatment strategies.
They will also have a working knowledge of applicable legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and the Guardianship Act, as well as familiarity with various community-based health and human services.
A minimum of two years' recent, related experience is required, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
A valid BC Driver's License is also required.
Key Responsibilities- Determine and respond to emergent situations.
- Meet deadlines and prioritize workload.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, and other healthcare providers.
- Work as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Problem-solve and resolve conflicts.
- Foster good public relations and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Operate related equipment, including computerized systems.
- Keyboard at 30 wpm.
