Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Stress Engineer to join our team at BWX Technologies. As a Senior Stress Engineer, you will be responsible for performing structural qualification of steam generators, heat exchangers, process vessels, and piping assemblies for new equipment supply or in support of field services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform numerical analysis and design qualification of nuclear components using finite element analysis or classical closed-form solutions, which would include:
    • Structural analysis
    • Transient thermal analysis
    • Heat-transfer analysis
    • Response spectrum and time-history seismic analysis
  • Provide input and support to Project Engineering, including:
    • Input to set the design
    • Preparation of calculations and reports to qualify the final design
    • Evaluating non-conformances as required
    • Responsible to demonstrate acceptance to the criteria of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and the Customer's specification.
Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or civil engineering or associated fields with strong background in solid mechanics and/or fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
  • Experience with finite element analysis.
  • Experience using general purpose FE codes such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, and numerical packages such as MathCAD or Matlab.
  • Knowledge of nuclear plant functions and ASME BPV Code would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of CSA S16 or equivalent structural codes would be an asset.
  • Proven problem-solving and organizational skills and ability to develop effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ideally years of experience and open to intermediate level with 7+ years.
  • P.Eng or interest in obtaining same would be an asset.
