Job Title: Practice Consultant, EHS

Job Summary:

The Practice Consultant, EHS is a key member of the Environmental Health Services (EHS) team at Fraser Health. This role provides expert advice and consultation to staff and managers on environmental health matters, supports the development and implementation of policies and procedures, and conducts audits to ensure compliance with legislation and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides consultation and advice to staff and managers on environmental health matters, including provision of guidance on legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Supports the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and protocols for EHS, including conducting research and identifying best practices.
  • Conducts audits to monitor and evaluate compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures, and provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Develops and delivers training programs for staff and students, including orientation and education on environmental health matters.
  • Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to develop and implement health protection and quality improvement projects.
  • Represents Fraser Health in EHS matters, including attending meetings and participating on external committees.
  • Maintains professional practice growth and knowledge in health protection and promotion through ongoing education and networking.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health or a related field.
  • Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada) granted by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI).
  • Eligible for registration with the BC Branch of the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors.
  • Five years' recent related experience in environmental health.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers, including word-processing, databases management, spreadsheets, and graphic presentation software applications.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of research methodology and analysis.
  • Ability to provide leadership to project teams, staff, and students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including conducting group presentations and working in a team environment.
  • Ability to deal effectively with others.
  • Ability to plan, implement, organize, and problem-solve, and manage projects.
