About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Labour and Employment Lawyer to join our team at the Legislative Assembly. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide expert advice on all aspects of labour and employment law, ensuring that our organization remains compliant with relevant legislation and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent and advise parties in collective bargaining and on the implementation of collective agreements.
  • Represent and advise parties in grievances and labour arbitration hearings and other tribunal and court proceedings.
  • Provide legal and strategic advice on labour and employment law matters, including recruitment and retention, discipline and discharge, performance management, human rights and accommodation, workplace investigations, and regulatory compliance.
  • Review, draft, and implement human resources and policies and procedures.
  • Interpret and provide legal and strategic advice on Ontario labour and employment legislation and regulations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with management and unionized and non-unionized staff and build a positive workplace culture.
Requirements
  • Member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario.
  • Significant knowledge and experience in labour and employment law.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
