Senior Occupational Therapist Opportunity

Position Type: Part-time
Essential Requirement: Valid Vulnerable Sector screening and Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance (within 6 months)
Compensation: $45 - $65/hour; Contractor status
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive clinical evaluations, including initial assessments, activities of daily living (ADL) assessments, and specialized seating and positioning evaluations.
- Determine necessary equipment and initiate recommendations accordingly.
- Engage with local suppliers for equipment trials and prepare applications/funding requests for the Ministry of Health, insurance providers, and other funding organizations.
- Deliver informal education on seating and positioning, promoting independence in daily activities, wheelchair use, and adaptive aids, along with ongoing education for clients and their families to enhance function, independence, and safety.
- Continuously assess the use of restraints, and implement strategies for wound prevention, fall prevention, and injury mitigation.
- Document assessments and treatment interventions in the client's records in accordance with the guidelines set by the College of Occupational Therapists.
Qualifications:
- Must be registered with the Provincial Association of Occupational Therapists.
- Experience in Long Term Care is preferred.
