About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Painter and Decorator to join our team at Marvel Cabinetry & Marvel Renovations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality painting and decorating services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and Clean Surfaces: Prepare, clean, and sand surfaces to be painted, ensuring they are free from dust, dirt, and other contaminants.
  • Repair and Fill: Repair cracks and holes in walls and ceilings, and fill them with a suitable filler.
  • Mix and Apply Paint: Mix paint to the desired color and texture, and apply it to interior and exterior surfaces using a variety of techniques.
  • Measure and Cut Materials: Measure, cut, and apply wallpaper and other fabric to walls, ensuring a precise and professional finish.
  • Advise and Consult: Advise clients on colors and choice of wall coverings, taking into account their personal preferences and design requirements.
  • Erect Scaffolding and Rigging: Erect scaffolding and swing stages, and attach rigging to ensure safe access to high areas.
  • Estimate and Plan: Estimate costs and materials required for each project, and plan the work schedule to ensure timely completion.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate, or equivalent experience.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and with odors. Physically demanding, with regular bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Equipment and Machinery: Experience with airless spray equipment, brush painting, conventional spray painting, electrostatic applications equipment, multi-ratio pump spraying, patterned rollers, roller painting, and thermal spray equipment.
  • Surface Preparation: Experience with drywall taping/patching, water/hydroblasting, steam cleaning, flame cleaning, and sandblasters.
  • Coating and Application: Experience with novelty and decorative effects, multi-color finishes, powdered coatings, dipping, and paint spraying.
  • Wood Finishing: Experience with graining, marbleizing, staining, and glazing.
  • Wall Covering: Experience with wallpaper, vinyl, fabrics/upholstery, wood veneers, foils, and photographic murals.
  • Security and Safety: Ability to pass a criminal record check.
