About Wellspring Alberta: Wellspring Alberta is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting, informing, and empowering individuals diagnosed with cancer. We strive to help them navigate the challenges of fear, isolation, and practical issues that cancer can introduce into their lives. As an affiliate of the Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation, we offer a diverse array of programs, support, and resources, ensuring that anyone affected by cancer and their caregivers can enhance their quality of life. All our services are evidence-informed and provided free of charge, without the need for referrals, at multiple centers and online. Our vision is to ensure that no one faces cancer alone.
Role Overview: We are excited to announce the launch of a new in-person program in Medicine Hat and are seeking two dedicated professionals to lead the Cancer Connect Program. The Outreach Program Leader will play a crucial role in facilitating this initiative, which will operate for two hours, twice a month, with the support of volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the leadership standards and policies outlined in Wellspring's Program Leader's Guide.
- Create a nurturing and welcoming atmosphere, ensuring the group leader maintains primary responsibility for the management of the group process.
- Provide guidance, support, and constructive feedback to volunteers assisting with the program, in collaboration with program coordinators.
- Document attendance and perform other administrative tasks as required.
- Address any needs or concerns that necessitate follow-up with Wellspring staff.
- Engage in the culture of philanthropy at Wellspring by recognizing the importance of charitable contributions for program delivery.
- Communicate relevant announcements to program participants, based on information provided by the program team regarding upcoming initiatives or events.
- Maintain timely communication with the Wellspring program team as needed.
Qualifications:
- A graduate of a recognized post-secondary institution.
- A professional from a relevant field (e.g., social work, nursing, psychology, education), with membership in good standing with the applicable governing association.
- Experience in a healthcare or allied health setting, particularly in cancer care, is an asset.
- A minimum of three years of experience leading groups within a supportive care framework.
Commitment to Inclusion: Wellspring Alberta is committed to fostering an inclusive environment. We are actively working to enhance the diversity of identities and lived experiences within our organization to better reflect the communities we serve. We encourage applications from individuals who are typically under-represented in cancer-serving organizations, including BIPOC individuals, LGBTQ2S+ identifying individuals, persons with disabilities, and candidates from all equity-seeking groups.
We appreciate your interest in Wellspring and warmly welcome all applications.
